Michelle DeWitt embarked on her journey more than 26 years ago by joining Wolff Insurance, a local Manitowoc insurance agency, marking her entry into the world of insurance. Little did she know this initial leap would set the stage for her future as an entrepreneur. She then transitioned her career to the Chicagoland area, dedicating over a decade to honing her skills in insurance. Despite the gratitude she felt for the knowledge and experience acquired during this time, she came to the realization, Wisconsin is where she belonged, so she moved back “home”.
Her story took a significant turn on December 31st, 2022, when she acquired Forever Your Insurance from its former owners, Bob and Cindy Schneider. Michelle’s transition into this new role was marked by a meticulously crafted business plan and a thorough financial assessment.
Trying to obtain financing for the purchase of the agency proved to be challenging; she engaged with multiple financial establishments, both local and out-of-town. Prioritizing local collaborations, she was pleasantly surprised by the receptive stance of Nicolet Bank in extending their assistance – a partnership that has proved exceptional.
Networking and mentorship also played pivotal roles in her journey. Working with devoted individuals such as Ann Flad-Jesion, Director of Entrepreneurship & Business Development at Progress Lakeshore, opened doors to resources like the Manitowoc County Chamber and local women-owned business associations, along with other sources of information and grants that fueled her business’s growth.
As an independent agent, Michelle has a clear philosophy: putting customers first. Rather than being swayed by the interests of insurance companies, she is dedicated to finding tailored solutions that perfectly match her clients’ needs. This philosophy, coupled with her comprehensive knowledge of the industry, sets her apart in the competitive market.
Michelle’s success defied the idea that business ownership solely revolves around generating wealth. Her accomplishments are driven by unwavering dedication, hard work, and a profound passion for her craft. Looking ahead, Michelle aims to broaden her agency’s reach by expanding her staff, ensuring that her growing clientele receives the best possible service.

She has embraced the autonomy of business ownership and takes pride in making decisions that impact her agency’s growth.

Michelle’s entrepreneurial venture exemplifies the power of dedication, local support, and a genuine desire to make a difference. While her path was full of unexpected turns, it has led to extraordinary outcomes.
